BBC Studios ups Schildhouse to BritBox North America president

Schildhouse has overseen the growth of BritBox in the U.S. and Canada.

BBC Studios (BBCS) has revealed the new leadership structure of the BritBox streaming service.

Robert Schildhouse has been promoted to the role of president of BritBox North America and general manager of BritBox International, effective April 1.

The move comes in the wake of BBCS acquiring full ownership of the streamer earlier this month by buying out ITV’s 50% stake, and ITV vet Reemah Sakaan’s departure as CEO of the service.

The New York–based Schildhouse (pictured) has been with BritBox since 2022, most recently serving as general manager, North America and group editorial for BritBox International. During his tenure, he has helped drive the streamer’s growth in the U.S. and Canada while also leading its global content and editorial organization. In his newly expanded role, he will add responsibility for product/technology and marketing to his remit.

Prior to joining BritBox, Schildhouse spent seven years in senior leadership roles at CBS, following five years as part of the launch team at Hulu, where he served as co-head of content acquisition.

In addition to Schildhouse’s appointment, BBC Studios announced that London-based Kerry Ball will be continuing at BritBox in her role as chief commercial and strategy officer. Both she and Schildhouse will report directly to Rebecca Glashow, CEO of BBC global media and streaming.

“We have had an incredible year of growth and are uniquely positioned to solidify our standing as the premier destination for delivering quality British content to our loyal and expanding subscriber base,” said Schildhouse in a statement. “We remain committed to curating premium content from the deep and varied creative community across the U.K., including ITV, independent producers and from within BBC Studios.”
