The OSM/MFM Script Angel Feature Film Accelerator connects local writers with international mentors to develop a feature script.

On Screen Manitoba, in collaboration with Manitoba Film & Music, has announced the five screenwriting teams set to participate in the OSM/MFM Script Angel Feature Film Accelerator.

The mentorship program connects local writers with international industry mentors to develop a feature film script. Each mentorship is valued at $10,000.

The participants and their projects, selected by an external jury of international mentors, include Elizabeth Denny (Love, Old and New), Natalia Longley (Project O), Bisong Taiwo (Martyr), BJ Verot and Drew Scurfield (Cache Money), and Sarah Yates-Howorth (Lucky Lou Gets Game).

The program is intended to offer insights, guidance and support in the craft of screenwriting. That includes personalized mentorship sessions with industry professionals; opportunities to network with filmmakers, producers and other writers; a showcase events where participants can present their work to industry stakeholders; and $10,000 in training for each of the selected applicants.

“This program is a catalyst to further develop and support local Manitoba screenwriters, bringing more unique voices and stories to the forefront of our dynamic film and television industry,” said Manitoba Film & Music CEO Lynne Skromeda in a statement. “We are happy to be partnering with On Screen Manitoba to bring this important opportunity to our creative professionals here in the province as it’s something that has a genuine impact on their careers.”
