Super Channel acquires Australian drama Prosper

The popular Stan original series will debut on Super Channel Fuse later this month.

Super Channel has acquired popular Australian drama series Prosper (8 x 60-minutes) from Lionsgate Television.

Produced by Lingo Pictures and commissioned by Lionsgate and Australia’s Stan, the series stars Richard Roxburgh (Elvis) and Rebecca Gibney (Halifax: Retribution).

Prosper is set in the inner sanctum of one of the fastest-growing evangelical megachurches in the world, U Star, run by the wealthy and powerful Quinn family, which are trying keep their secrets at bay as they begin a U.S. expansion. The series was this year’s biggest Australian summer original premiere for Stan.

The drama will make its Canadian premiere on Super Channel Fuse on Sunday, March 24 at 9 p.m. ET, with each episode available to stream on Super Channel’s On Demand the following day.

“On the heels of Prosper‘s critically acclaimed Australian broadcast premiere last summer, we’re excited to bring this razor-sharp series to our subscribers,” said Super Channel chief content officer Kimberley Ball in a statement. “We feel that Prosper will fill the void of past primetime family dramas like Dallas and, most recently, Succession with a saga that fuses great dialogue and sibling rivalries to explore the consequences that occur when religion and capitalism collide.”
