Kerry Appleyard joins eOne’s Canadian TV team

Appleyard's appointment is part of a scripted and unscripted team reorganization that also sees the departure of EVP Tecca Crosby.

Former Boat Rocker executive Kerry Appleyard is joining Entertainment One (eOne) Canada as SVP scripted and unscripted.

The hire is part of a reorganization of eOne Canada’s scripted and unscripted TV business following its acquisition by Lionsgate. The new structure goes into effect on April 1, and Appleyard will report to eOne Canada TV president Jocelyn Hamilton.

Appleyard most recently served as SVP, head of scripted Canada at Boat Rocker Studios, where she worked on projects such as Global’s Robyn Hood and AMC’s Orphan Black: Echoes. Her work under the prior Temple Street banner includes the original Orphan Black, Killjoys, X Company and Cavendish.

“[Appleyard] brings great creative instincts and strong talent relationships to our scripted and unscripted business as part of a reorganization that will enhance our overall creative and business strategy,” said Hamilton in a statement.

The executive changes will also see EVP scripted Tecca Crosby depart the company after 12 years “to embark on a new chapter,” according to a news release. Crosby’s work at eOne includes Global’s Private Eyes and Mary Kills People, CBC’s Moonshine, CTV’s The Spencer Sisters, and Space (now CTV Sci-Fi) series Bitten.

“Tecca has been a great creative partner, a wonderful mentor to her team and an accomplished executive with a long track record of original, daring and successful scripted series,” said Hamilton on Crosby’s departure.

The reorganization also sees Darren Giblin promoted to SVP current and coproductions, reporting to Hamilton. Andrew Kelly is now VP scripted development, while both Scott Boyd and Christine Diakos hold the title of VP unscripted development, with all three reporting to Appleyard.

The eOne Canada TV team also includes Isabel Gomez-Moriana and Jessica Liadsky, who maintain their roles as director, scripted development and development manager, respectively.
