CBC Kids has commissioned preschool animated comedy series Let’s Go, Bananas! from Toronto-headquartered 9 Story Media Group.
Let’s Go, Bananas! (26 x 22 minutes) is created by writer and producer Tim Bain and directed by Matt Mitchell. The series is produced by 9 Story Media Group, with Brown Bag Films Toronto handling animation, and is now in production.
The series has been pre-sold to U.K. channel Sky Kids. It is slated to premiere this spring on CBC and CBC Gem, according to a news release. 9 Story developed the series and holds worldwide distribution and merchandising rights.
Let’s Go, Bananas! is inspired by Bain’s home life as a father of three. It features a community of three animal families, the Bananas (gorillas), Crockers (crocodiles) and Tiger-Zelles (tigers and gazelles).
In a statement, Bain said, “as a writer, it’s delightful to find fresh stories to tell with diverse families we don’t often see on screen.”
“We hope kids in Canada will see themselves in Let’s Go, Bananas! with its fresh and contemporary stories of three families who share everything – the good, the bad, and the hilarious,” added Marie McCann, senior director, children’s content at CBC Kids.
