Amazon MGM Studios picks up worldwide rights to Celine Dion doc

A mazon MGM Studios has acquired worldwide rights to the feature-length documentary on the famed Canadian singer Celine Dion.

I Am: Celine Dion is directed by U.S. filmmaker Irene Taylor and produced by Sony Music Vision, in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Canada, and Taylor’s banner Vermilion Films. The sale was negotiated by Sony Music Vision, according to a news release.

The doc’s producers include Taylor, Stacy Lorts, and Julie Begey Seureau for Vermilion and Tom Mackay for Sony Music Vision. Quebec-based Les Productions Feeling’s Dave Platel and Denis Savage serve as executive producers alongside Shane Carter for Sony Music Entertainment Canada and Krista Wegener for Sony Music Vision.

I Am: Celine Dion will be available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, with a release date yet to be announced.

The doc was filmed over more than a year and is described as an exploration of the music star’s past and present and follows her “journey toward living an open and authentic life” while battling Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).

The head of Amazon MGM Studios Jennifer Salke said in a statement that “it’s an honour to be trusted with her story, and we can’t wait to share it with Prime Video audiences around the world.”
