CMF invests nearly $4M in 17 returning digital linear series

The Digital Linear Series program is supporting additional seasons of Tales from the Rez, Abracadavers, and You're My Hero, among others.

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) has allocated nearly $4 million to 17 projects under its Digital Linear Series program.

The program supports digital series initially created for online platforms going into their second season and beyond. The selected projects in this round include 12 dramas, four children and youth series, and one documentary.

Eight of the selected dramas are receiving an investment of $250,000. They include the second seasons of Tales from the Rez (Blackfoot Nation Films; pictured), Streams Flow From A River (Fae Pictures), The Runner (N5 Pictures), You’re My Hero (Longhope Media), À tout prix (KOTV WEB), De Pierre en fille (Passez Go), Detox (UGO), and the third season of Abracadavers (Numera Films).

The seventh season of Têtes à claques (Salambo TV; $233,131), season two of Weirdos (Magic Cube Productions; $224,914), season three of Paranormal Solutions (Tilt Nine Entertainment; $249,000), and season four of The Missus Downstairs (Torbay Ponies; $150,000) complete the lineup of dramas.

The second seasons of children and youth series The Bravest Knight (Big Bad Boo Studios), Macy Murdoch (Shaftesbury) and Run Jump Play (Imagine Create Media) are all receiving $250,000, while Gisele’s Mashup Adventures (Headspinner Productions) is receiving $169,359. The third season of the docuseries Décoloniser l’histoire (Picbois Productions), meanwhile, is getting an investment of $157,200.

Funding decisions for the Digital Linear Series program were made by a jury of industry professionals, comprising Claire Dion, Emilia King, Jordan Molaro, Kate Green, and Louiselle Roy, according to a CMF release.
