Former Corus Entertainment exec Colin Bohm has been appointed as the new CEO of Montreal-headquartered animation software company Toon Boom Animation.
Bohm spent the last two decades at Corus, where he held various roles, most recently as EVP of content and corporate strategy before the role was eliminated in October.
He oversaw several original content businesses including Toon Boom, as well as Nelvana, Corus Studios, Aircraft Pictures, and Kids Can Press, in addition to overseeing business development, global strategic partnerships and M&A initiatives.
The hiring follows the Integrated Media Company’s (IMC) acquisition of the Toon Boom from Nelvana for $147.5 million, which closed in August.
Since the acquisition, Toon Boom has pushed to expand its creative software business in new markets and verticals, with new product launches planned for 2024, according to a news release.
“As we build a world-class platform for content creation and production workflow tools, Colin’s leadership, insight, and decades of experience will be integral to realizing our vision for a broader and more innovative ecosystem,” said IMC VP Yuning Zhang in a statement.
Bohm added: “I look forward to partnering closely with the talented Toon Boom team and IMC to provide robust and comprehensive solutions for content creators everywhere.”
