Netflix has hired longtime CBC production executive Edythe Yee (pictured) as the first-ever manager of production for its Canada office.
Assuming the role in early December, Yee will be responsible for the physical production of Netflix Canada’s original scripted content commissions, both English and French. She will be working with directors of content Danielle Woodrow and Tara Woodbury.
According to a spokesperson for Netflix, the first productions she’ll be working on are the Mae Martin-led thriller Tall Pines (Sphere Media), and the untitled Arctic comedy from Red Marrow Media and Northwood Entertainment, which was co-commissioned with CBC and APTN.
Yee spent nearly two decades at CBC, joining in 2004 as unit production manager and moving up to the role of physical production executive. She has worked on some of the pubcaster’s biggest series of the last two decades, including Heartland, Murdoch Mysteries and Anne with an E. Prior to joining CBC, she worked as an animation production manager at Nelvana.
