Blue Ant Media has unveiled its new leadership structure following its merger with marblemedia.
The yet-to-be-named studio, headed up by co-presidents Mark Bishop (pictured right) and Matthew Hornburg (pictured left), is headquartered in Toronto, with hubs also in Los Angeles, New York, Singapore, London, Washington and Sydney. The execs report to CEO Michael MacMillan (pictured middle).
Hornburg leads the unscripted development team, which includes Jennifer Harkness, who will work on factual entertainment from the L.A. office. In Toronto, Kelsey Espensen leads unscripted development and Steve Gamester leads specialist factual development.
Bishop leads the company’s scripted development team, with Carrie Paupst Shaughnessy and Melissa Williamson leading scripted drama and comedy. Shaughnessy will be focused on scripted production, while Williamson handles scripted development. AJ Trauth oversees the kids, family and young adult division, and Josh Bowen leads the soon-to-be expanded animation studio.
Donna Luke is at the helm of the production and post-production division, who, along with co-presidents Bishop and Hornburg, will produce the company’s slate. Overseeing factual series is Paul Kilback, while Aileen Gardner leads unscripted, specialist factual and factual entertainment. Stefanie Haist leads unscripted entertainment productions.
On the distribution and production business, working on commercial strategy and content financing, is Diane Rankin. Ben Barrett will oversee content financing and partnerships in unscripted.
On the American sales team is Bryan Gabourie and Gerbrig Blanksma, while Lilla Hurst keeps her post on the distribution team’s global acquisitions and content strategy in the U.K.
The remaining position that is as-of-yet unfilled is head of international sales, which will be announced in 2024. Exiting is Solange Attwood, EVP international, who is moving on to start a production business after nearly a decade with Blue Ant Media.
In all, the new team “bring[s] a tapestry of expertise, innovation and passion, poised to elevate our super-charged studio to unprecedented heights,” said Hornburg and Bishop in a joint statement.
Blue Ant Media’s reach is global, having created and distributed programming in all genres that is broadcast across the world. It’s also responsible for channels such as Love Nature, Cottage Life, Smithsonian Channel Canada, BBC Earth Canada, HauntTV, Homeful, Drag Race Universe, Total Crime, HistoryTime and Love Pets.
