CBC/Radio-Canada, Germany’s ZDF renew MOU

The three-year agreement will see the public broadcasters collaborate on scripted, factual and documentary programming, as well as news.

CBC/Radio-Canada and German public broadcaster ZDF have renewed their partnership agreement, re-upping on their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) originally signed in 2020.

The two national pubcasters will continue to work together to develop news content, as well as scripted, factual-entertainment and documentary programming, locking in a three-year deal, according to a news release issued Monday (Nov. 20).

Norbert Himmler, director general of ZDF, said the two pubcasters “share the same values and mandate to reach all of society, whether linear, on-demand or on digital platforms,” in s statement.

Catherine Tait (pictured), president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada, said the Canadian broadcaster and ZDF “are close collaborators on a number of important public media initiatives” in a statement, which includes research and development project, the Public Spaces Incubator and the Global Task Force on public media, a group of seven leaders of major public service media from around the world.

“This renewed partnership will allow our teams to find more opportunities to work together and to bring our audiences in both countries the best in Canadian and German news and entertainment programming,” continued Tait.
