BBC Arts orders Inigo Philbrick docuseries from Blue Ant Studios

The three-part docuseries explores the rise and fall of American art dealer Inigo Philbrick, who was convicted of defrauding US$86 million from clients.

BBC Arts has commissioned a new three-part docuseries from Blue Ant Studios that will explore the meteoric rise and fall of American art dealer Inigo Philbrick, who went from being the art world’s go-to contemporary art broker to being convicted in a multimillion-dollar fraud case.

Set to air in spring 2024 on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, The Inigo Philbrick Story (w/t, 3 x 60 minutes) is currently in production, with filming planned to take place primarily in London, New York, Pennsylvania, Vanuatu and Rhode Island. Blue Ant Studios will oversee distribution and pre-sales for the project outside commissioning territories.

The docuseries will provide exclusive access to Philbrick and his fiancée, Made in Chelsea star Victoria Baker-Harber, as well as never-before-seen archive, video and text messages. The couple (pictured) were the subject of a six-month international manhunt by the FBI that ended with Philbrick’s arrest on the South Pacific island of Vanuatu in June 2020. He was subsequently tried and convicted of duping investors out of US$86 million, and is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in Pennsylvania.

In addition to Philbrick and Baker-Harber, the series will feature interviews with leading figures in the art world, fine artists, buyers, dealers, lawyers and law enforcement.

The Inigo Philbrick Story is produced by Blue Ant Studios for BBC Two and BBC iPlayer. Blue Ant Studios’ Jennifer Harkness and Laura Michalchyshyn serve as executive producers, alongside David Hodgkinson. Gillian Hourihan is co-executive producer. The director is Jamie Crawford, and Sarah Sharkey Pearce serves as showrunner. The series was commissioned for BBC Arts by Alistair Pegg.
