The three-part series Dans une galaxie près de chez vous : 25 ans de mission is directed by Etienne Fournier and produced by Zone3.

Crave is travelling into the past to bring the futuristic Quebec cult classic Dans une galaxie près de chez vous back into the spotlight in a new docuseries.

The 3 x 60-minute Dans une galaxie près de chez vous : 25 ans de mission is currently in production and slated for a 2024 release to mark the 25th anniversary of the sci-fi comedy series, according to a news release.

The series is produced by Zone3, which also produced the original 1999 series that aired for four seasons, first on Canal Famille before landing on Vrak. Set in the 2030s, the original series follows the journey of the spaceship Romano Fafard and its crew as they search for another habitable planet.

Etienne Fournier is directing the docuseries, while “dedicated fan” and comedian Matthieu Pepper is the series host. Dans une galaxie près de chez vous was also turned into a comic book and two feature films, with a third in the works, said the release.

The docuseries will revisit iconic scenes and characters, the futuristic settings of the show and reveal “production secrets.” It features cast members Guy Jodoin, Claude Legault, Sylvie Moreau, Didier Lucien, Stéphane Crête, Mélanie Maynard, Réal Bossé, Pascale Montpetit, Paul Ahmarani and Isabelle Brossard.

The first Dans une galaxie près de chez vous film was released in 2004 and directed by Claude Desrosiers, with a sequel helmed by Philippe Gagnon coming out in 2008.
