Deals: eOne, Immina Films, WildBrain, Autentic

The Spencer Sisters goes global, Immina Films makes its first foreign acquisition, Sportsnet comes to Prime Video, plus more.

CTV original series The Spencer Sisters has been picked up in multiple territories, including Warner Bros. Discovery for France and NBCUniversal for Germany.

The Spencer Sisters (pictured), produced by Entertainment One and Winnipeg’s Buffalo Gal Pictures, was also acquired by WOWOW for Japan, Disney for the Middle East and Portugal, Play Media for Belgium, TV Joj for Slovakia, and Tet/Telia for the Baltics. The series also recently launched on NBCUniversal International Networks & DTC’s channel DIVA in the Balkans.

Created by Alan McCullough, The Spencer Sisters follows a mother and daughter duo who team up to start a private detective agency. The series premiered on CTV in February and was acquired by the CW Network for the U.S. in May.

Immina Films

Montreal-based distributor Immina Films has acquired the Canadian rights to Italian director Matteo Garrone’s Io Capitano.

The Italy-Belgium coproduction is co-written by Garrone, Massimo Gaudioso, Massimo Ceccherini and Andrea Tagliaferri. The film, which recounts the dangerous journey of two Senegalese teenagers to Europe, was recently chosen as Italy’s pick in the Oscar race for Best International Feature Film.

Io Capitano will be released in Canada in 2024. The deal marks Immina’s first foreign acquisition since launching last year, according to a news release.

WildBrain

WildBrain’s Family Channel has acquired the CGI-animated comedy-action series Shasha & Milo for Canada.

Shasha & Milo (25 x 22 minutes/12 x 2 minutes) is produced by Banijay-owned Zodiak Kids & Family France and South Korea’s Pingo Entertainment, and distributed by Banijay Kids & Family’s distribution arm, Zodiak Kids & Family Distribution.

The series follows the adventures of two 12-year-olds as they “juggle everyday life, alongside their secret roles as the Crescent Island Guardians.”

Autentic Distribution

Munich-based Autentic Distribution has announced a raft of global sales for Go Button Media’s A Cold War of Spies.

The 4 × 50-minute series is produced by Toronto-based Go Button in collaboration with Autentic Studios.

Sales includes a 17-hour package deal with Swedish broadcaster UR, a 13-hour deal with Denmark’s DR, as well as PBS America in the U.K. Arabic Broadcaster Asharq has also picked up the series along with another Go Button-Autentic project Mapping Disaster (6 × 52 minutes), which includes Super Channel as a partner.

Sportsnet

Amazon’s Prime Video has added Rogers Sports & Media’s Sportsnet to its roster in Canada.

The channel was launched as an add-on for subscribers on Tuesday (Oct. 10), and is priced at $19.99 per month. The deal makes Sportsnet the first Canadian sports network to be available on Prime, according to Sportsnet SVP Greg Sansone in a statement.

Prime Video users in Canada now have access to Sportsnet (East, Ontario, West, and Pacific), Sportsnet One, and Sportsnet 360 linear channels with the subscription.
