Montreal-headquartered production and distribution company Sphere Media has launched international sales for two animated projects ahead of MIPCOM.
The projects are preschool series Moka (15 x 2.5 minutes) and adult-targeted Red Ketchup (20 x 22 minutes; pictured).
Distributor Abacus Media Rights represents international sales for Red Ketchup and will be shopping the title at MIPCOM in Cannes this month, according to a news release.
Sphere has also partnered with Dubai-headquartered Spacetoon, which has acquired Moka to produce an Arabic version for the Middle East and Northern Africa market, and will oversee distribution for the title in the region.
Moka is created by Ghislain Cyr, creative director of Sphere Media’s kids and family unit, and will debut on the Canadian kids’ animation channel Toon A Vision in early November, said the release.
Inspired by a musical plush toy named Moka, created by Isabelle Sciotto, the series is aimed at three- to five-year-olds and follows the adventures of a bear cub with a special talent: he can drift off into a magical dream world.
Red Ketchup, based on a Quebec comic book series of the same name, was commissioned by French-language channel Télétoon la nuit, and debuted in April. The series centres on a rogue Canadian-born FBI agent who specializes in mayhem.
