M ichelle Grady has been promoted to president of Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Grady has led the Vancouver-based visual effects and animation studio for the past seven years, first as SVP then as EVP, helping to grow Imageworks into one of the top VFX and animation facilities in the world, working on both CG features and major live-action VFX projects, according to a news release.
Imageworks, which is headquartered in Vancouver and also has an office in Culver City, recently expanded into Montreal while growing its stable of films, including Sony’s blockbuster Spider-Verse animated films as well as Netflix films The Mitchells vs. the Machines and The Sea Beast, and Marvel Studios’ Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3.
Grady joined Sony Pictures Imageworks from the visual effects studio MPC, where she served as head of film and managing projects including Suicide Squad, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Godzilla, Maleficent and the Oscar-winning Life of Pi. Prior to her time at MPC, Grady was VP and general manager at Technicolor.
