Toronto-based production and distribution company Boat Rocker has announced a raft of international sales for its new Orphan Black spinoff, including in the U.K. and Australia.
The 10 x 60-minute first season of Orphan Black: Echoes (pictured) is produced and distributed by Boat Rocker. Anna Fishko is the creator, writer, showrunner and executive producer alongside director John Fawcett. A premiere date for the series has not been announced yet.
The series has been acquired by ITV in the U.K. as an ITVX original, as well as Stan Entertainment in Australia and TVNZ in New Zealand.
It has also been acquired by NBCUniversal for its Syfy channel in Spain, Portugal, African territories, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia and Slovenia.
Other buyers include OCS for France, PCCW Media Entertainment for streaming platform Now Studio for Hong Kong and Macau, and public broadcaster NPO for the Netherlands.
“We’re fortunate to be offering buyers a well-established Orphan Black universe that has built-in familiarity with viewers,” Jon Rutherford, president, global rights, franchise, and content strategy, Boat Rocker Studios, said in a statement.
Starring Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and Keeley Hawes (Bodyguard) the spinoff is set in the world of the series Orphan Black and “takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence,” according to the release.
Boat Rocker manages the Orphan Black global franchise, including content distribution and consumer products.
