Toronto-based prodco Shaftesbury has hired former Rezolution Pictures exec Christina Fon as its VP, strategic partnerships and scripted content.
Fon will assume the role on Sept. 11 and will be based out of Montreal and Toronto, joining the company’s creative team to develop a new slate of content and seek broadcast and distribution partners for the projects, according to a press release.
Fon brings over 27 years of industry experience to the company, and was serving as VP and executive producer at Montreal’s Rezolution Pictures in her previous role.
She recently served as executive producer on Little Bird, which was produced by Rezolution and OP Little Bird in association with Crave and APTN lumi, in partnership with Fremantle. The series was recently acquired by PBS Distribution for the U.S.
Fon said in a statement that “after dedicating over 20 years to Rezolution Pictures, I’m thrilled to bring my experience and passion to a new environment in the world of television production. This opportunity allows me to contribute to an established team and continue my journey in helping to shape captivating content for audiences worldwide.”
Shaftesbury’s chairman and president, Christina Jennings, added: “Her passion for storytelling and excellence is well known in our business. She is a respected executive whose track record speaks for itself, including the most recent success with Little Bird.”
Shaftesbury’s current primetime slate includes 16 seasons of the Murdoch Mysteries series for CBC, ITV Studios and UKTV, and five seasons of Hudson & Rex for Citytv, both available in over 120 countries worldwide.
