Blue Ant Media’s global distribution head Solange Attwood (pictured) has revealed that she will be departing her role as EVP, international to pursue a career in production.
Attwood announced that she will be stepping down from the Toronto-headquartered media company on LinkedIn Thursday morning (Sept. 7), stating that she is leaving “to get closer to the creative centre of our industry.”
Her exit was confirmed to Playback Daily in a statement from Sarah Etherden, VP, global communications for Blue Ant Media, who noted that Attwood is departing to “launch her own production business.” Attwood will remain with Blue Ant until Nov. 30, and that a search for her successor “will begin imminently.
Attwood joined Blue Ant in 2014 to oversee the launch of Blue Ant International, which has since grown a slate of more than 5,000 hours of factual, documentary and scripted content. She was elevated to EVP, international in 2018.
Prior to joining Blue Ant, Attwood launched the distribution arm of Toronto’s Si Entertainment, and served as manager, acquisitions and international sales at the now-shuttered prodco and distributor Tricon Films & Television.
“Over the course of her decade-long tenure at Blue Ant, Solange has built a globally recognized and successful distribution business,” said Etherden. “We are sad to see her go, but we wish her all the best during this next step of her career and we look forward to working with her in new ways.”
