Raven Banner, Rogue Panda to adapt Escaping Denver podcast for TV

The TV series will be based on Corus Entertainment's scripted podcast exploring conspiracy theories surrounding the Denver International Airport.

Toronto sales and distribution company Raven Banner Entertainment and Vancouver prodco Rogue Panda Pictures, are adapting Corus Entertainment’s scripted podcast Escaping Denver for TV.

Raven Banner and Rogue Panda are developing the TV series using the podcast as a “launch-point” for the adaptation, according to a news release.

Escaping Denver is Corus Entertainment’s first scripted podcast. It is created by Rogue Panda’s Mike Howorun and Brady Roberts, and produced by Matthew Hall, Howorun and Roberts. It examines conspiracy theories surrounding the Denver International Airport, and has more than 1.3 million downloads globally.

The metafictional TV series will center on an Escaping Denver fan, a young woman who recruits a team of internet sleuths to prove that the “fictionalized podcast is actually reality,” said the release.

Andrew T. Hunt, managing partner at Raven Banner, said in a statement that “the podcast has truly resonated with listeners, and we see incredible potential in translating this strange and fantastical world to the small screen to deliver a unique and thrilling series that genre fans will love.”

“Escaping Denver has a narrative that is tailor-made for a visually captivating TV series,” added Rogue Panda’s Brady Roberts. “Partnering with Raven Banner Entertainment allows us to combine our passion for storytelling with their production experience, to deliver a series that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats.”

The third season of the podcast will launch early fall 2023 on Apple, Spotify, CuriousCast and all podcast platforms, added the release.
