Super Channel has commissioned three new factual series under its partnership with Toronto prodco Go Button Media and European distributor Off the Fence.
The Edmonton-based pay TV network has ordered 6 x 60-minute seasons of tech series Engineering Evolved, and history titles Cursed History (pictured) and Revolutions That Changed the World. All three series are now in production and set to be delivered between this fall and early 2024, according to a news release.
The titles are part of a two-year, six-series deal announced in January, totalling 36 hours of factual content.
“We’re bringing to the market three shows that we know will receive (and already are) a lot of interest from our clients,” said Loren Baxter, head of acquisitions at Off The Fence, in a statement.
Engineering Evolved explores the hidden stories of transportation technology through different modes of transit, from ships to cars to trains and submarines, featuring interviews with historians, engineers and futurists.
Cursed History will explore the people, places and objects that are marked with a legendary curse, detailing their origin stories and the death, disaster and destruction they bring.
Revolutions That Changed The World details the rise and fall of selected empires, monarchies and military regimes exploring how these revolutions shaped the world we live in today.
“The team at Go Button Media have succeeded in creating exciting new twists on established areas of interest, ones that frequently rate well for us,” said Jackie Pardy, chief content officer at Super Channel.
