Toronto’s imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival has expanded its leadership team with two new appointments.

Lindsay Monture (pictured left) has been hired as festival director. She is responsible for leading the festival’s programming team, including selecting festival programmers and any other roles within the organization’s artistic initiatives.

Meanwhile, David Morrison (pictured right) has been promoted to associate director, working alongside executive director Naomi Johnson to develop and implement the organization’s strategic plan and mandate.

Monture is Kanyen’kehá:ka (Mohawk), of the Turtle Clan from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. She previously worked on the programming team for imagineNATIVE, and most recently held an operations manager role at non-profit organization Indigenous Climate Action.

Morrison is Dene from Yellowknives Dene First Nation. He joined imagineNATIVE in 2019 and most recently held the title of fundraising manager.

Billed as the world’s largest Indigenous festival, imagineNATIVE will hold its 24th annual event this fall. The programming will include in-person screenings between Oct. 17 to 23, followed by virtual presentations from Oct. 23 to 29.
