Cineflix Rights has presold U.K. feature documentary The Mysterious Mr Lagerfeld to Prime Video Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
The U.K. distribution arm of Cineflix Media announced the deal Friday (April 28), along with the news that it had acquired the international rights to the 90-minute film, produced by Finestripe Productions. Lucinda Gergley-Garner, SVP, sales, North America and German-speaking territories, Cineflix Rights, brokered the deal with Prime Video, said the release.
The Mysterious Mr Lagerfeld (pictured) premiered on BBC Two on Wednesday (April 26) and explores how Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld “transformed high fashion from a niche interest into blockbuster, dramatic entertainment.”
Espresso Media International
Espresso Media International has picked up worldwide sales rights to the CBC documentary Channel-commissioned true crime documentary Cynara.
Directed and produced by Sherien Barsoum (Ride for Promise), the 88-minute film is set to make its world premiere at Toronto’s Hot Docs festival on Sunday (April 30). The film is executive produced by Bryn Hughes and Michelle Shepherd of Frequent Flyer Films.
Cynara examines the harrowing case in which a woman was convicted for her disabled daughter’s death after reporting a break-in.
Jess Reilly, Espresso’s head of sales and acquisitions, called the film a “genre-defining true crime story” that explores “societal biases against immigrants, disabled people” and those who suffer “at the hands of broken systems,” adding that the film would have “worldwide appeal to premium buyers and audiences.”
