Thunderbird options Mad Honey novel for scripted series

The New York Times bestseller is co-written by U.S. authors Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan.

Vancouver’s Thunderbird Entertainment has optioned the novel Mad Honey, co-authored by Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Finney Boylan, to adapt into a scripted series.

The New York Times bestseller follows a successful surgeon who moves with her son to a small town in New Hampshire, only to be caught up in a murder investigation.

Picoult (My Sister’s Keeper) and Boylan (She’s Not There: A Life in Two Genders) will serve as executive producers on the series adaptation.

Additional executive producers are Thunderbird CEO and chair Jennifer Twiner McCarron, president and CCO Matthew Berkowitz, and Barbara Wall of U.S.-based Tuatara Media.

Wall recently partnered with Thunderbird on a number of book options for scripted adaptations, working closely with Thunderbird’s recently-appointed SVP, scripted content Hillary Zwick Turner, who is leading the company’s U.S. premium scripted slate.

“We are so honoured that Jodi and Jennifer gave us the opportunity to bring this powerful story to new audiences,” said Berkowitz in a statement. “Mad Honey is exactly the kind of IP we’re looking for as we build out our premium scripted business.”

“I could not be happier with the passion and commitment that Thunderbird brings to our story,” added Picoult.

Picoult is repped by the Laura Gross Literary Agency and WME. Boylan is repped by CAA.
