Forum RIDM reveals Docs-in-Progress participants

Four teams will present their projects to buyers, distributors, festival programmers and international sales agents at the Marché du Film.

Four teams are heading to next month’s Cannes Film Festival as part of Forum RIDM’s Docs-in-Progress – Canadian Showcase, presented in partnership with Telefilm Canada.

The showcase’s fifth edition will see selected Canadian producers and filmmakers attend the Marché du Film to present documentary projects that are in the final stages of development to an audience of buyers, distributors, festival programmers and international sales agents. They’ll also receive pitch training and personalized support for their presentation, which can include a screening of an excerpt, according to a news release.

Participants include Seán Devlin (When the Storm Fades) and Amanda Ernst of Beb Bingo Entertainment with the doc ASOG, and director-producer Pablo Alvarez-Mesa (Bicentenario) with The Soldier’s Lagoon.

Director Laurence Lévesque (Drap Contour), along with producers Rosalie Chicoine Perreault (2023 Canadian Screen Award-winning Simo) and Catherine Boily (Joli Jour) of Metafilms, will present Mama no himitsu.

For The Death Tour, the team includes directors Stephan Peterson (Ice Road Truckers) and Sonya Ballantyne (Pac-Ow-Tay), and producers Sergeo Kirby (The Forbidden Reel) of Loaded Pictures and Stacey Tenenbaum (Pipe Dreams) of H2L Productions.

The Marché du Film runs during Cannes from May 16 to 24.
