Vancouver-headquartered Barbershop Films’ CEO Jeremy Drummond is making his feature directorial debut as production kicks off in Saskatchewan on A Cowboy Christmas.
The holiday-themed film is written by Heather Wright, with Trilight Entertainment founder Shayne Putzlocher and Jessica Watch producing. Drummond will also serve as executive producer alongside Igor Princ, Ralitsa Trifonova, Glenn Paradis and Daniel Ford Beavis.
Filming is underway at the Historic Reesor Ranch (pictured) in Cypress Hills, Sask., according to a news release. Production will wrap on April 1.
Princ Films is handling international sales on the film, which is geared to audiences of all ages and is slated to make its market debut at the Marché du Film in Cannes in May, said the release.
The film was funded through a few different sources, including a minimum guarantee from Princ Films, a grant from Creative Saskatchewan, and private financiers, a spokesperson tells Playback Daily. The budget was not disclosed.
A Cowboy Christmas stars Teagan Vincze (A Million Little Things) as an ambitious marketing executive from New York who visits a ranch in Canada on business but finds “a chance for love” and a break from her “fast-paced city life.”
Putzlocher and his team at the Regina- and Calgary-based Trilight Entertainment went into production on it 20th feature last August with the romantic drama Summer at Charlotte’s.
