French-language network Noovo has commissioned a new variety/musical nostalgia show from Montreal-based Pixcom.
Véronic Charron will produce The Ultimate Fan (10 x 60 minutes), which will film this summer in Montreal and debut this fall on Noovo and Noovo.ca.
Quebec comedian Phil Roy will host the series, which is being created as an international format for distribution, according to a news release from Nicola Merola, president and executive producer at Pixcom Productions, and Charles Lafortune, the company’s VP of development and executive producer.
The Ultimate Fan is a French-language series for Canada but is built as an international format and Pixcom is seeking an international distributor, a spokesperson tells Playback Daily.
The series will see 16 personalities competing in musical games to prove they are the biggest fans of hit songs from the past few decades. Daniel Laurin will direct the series, which will also have surprise guests and musical performances.
Four competitors will square off in each episode, with the first episodes advancing 12 of the 16 personalities to the second round. Eight of that 12 will then go to the semi-finals, which will whittle down the field to the four best “superfans” for the grand finale.
As announced last month, Pixcom is also producing francophone chef-focused docuseries Pendant ce temps en cuisine (8 x 30 minutes) for Prime Video.
