Canadian producers partner with Slash on horror-focused outfit

BerserkerGang builds on an existing collaboration between Raven Banner, Hangar 18 Media, director Rodrigo Gudiño and the Guns N' Roses guitarist.

Toronto distributor Raven Banner Entertainment has struck up another jam session with Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash with the launch of new horror-focused production company BerserkerGang.

The musician leads the prodco alongside Raven Banner’s Michael Paszt, James Fler, and Andrew Thomas Hunt, as well as Rue Morgue magazine founder Rodrigo Gudiño, and Toronto-based Hangar 18 Media’s Pasha Patriki.

The team previously collaborated on the film The Breach, which wrapped in 2021 and is set for release later this year. The Breach stars Allan Hawco and is directed by Gudiño and written by Nick Cutter and Ian Weir.

The film was produced by Hangar 18, which was formed out of a partnership with Raven Banner and Patriki’s banner 9 Light Entertainment. Slash was an executive producer and helped compose the film’s score.

BerserkerGang will “be selectively choosing projects that we collectively feel best represent the brand,” said Hunt in a statement, noting that it will focus on “quality over quantity.”

An initial slate is expected to be released ahead of the Cannes Film Festival in May, according to a news release.

“I’ve always been a huge horror fan, especially going back to the days when horror movies actually scared the hell out of you,” added Slash. “I want to get into the heart of the producing business so I can try and make movies that I’d like to see.”
