CBC and Paramount+ have renewed high-flying medical drama SkyMed for a second season.
The 9 x 60-minute season is now in production in Ontario and Manitoba. The series is produced by Toronto’s Piazza Entertainment in association with CBC and CBS Studios.
SkyMed is created by Julie Puckrin (Nurses), who serves as showrunner and executive producer. It follows a group of young medevac pilots and medics as they navigate high-stakes rescues in remote locations in northern Canada, as well as their turbulent romances.
Additional executive producers on season two are Vanessa Piazza and Gillian Hormel. Paramount Global Content Distribution handles international distribution, excluding Canada.
CBC serves as the Canadian broadcaster on SkyMed, which streams on Paramount+ in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France and Germany.
New to the cast for season two are Sydney Kuhne (Ginny & Georgia), Ryan Ali (The Hummingbird Project) and Nadine Whiteman-Roden (Faith Heist). Returning cast members are Natasha Calis (Nurses), Aason (Ace) Nadjiwon (There’s Someone Inside Your House), Morgan Holmstrom (Shadow of the Rougarou), Praneet Akilla (Motherland: Fort Salem), Mercedes Morris (Y: The Last Man), Kheon Clarke (Gabby Duran and The Unsittables), Braeden Clarke (Outlander) and Aaron Ashmore (Locke and Key)
