Bell Media sets development deal with drag artist Priyanka

The Canada's Drag Race season one winner will work with the broadcaster on premium scripted and unscripted projects.

Bell Media has inked a development deal with Canada’s Drag Race season one winner Priyanka.

The “multifaceted partnership” will give Bell Media a first-look acquisition opportunity on Priyanka’s development slate, according to a news release.

The slate includes premium scripted and unscripted content that will “showcase underrepresented and unique perspectives, ideas, and people.” Priyanka will be an executive producer on any projects resulting from the deal.

The drag artist has also joined CTV entertainment news program Etalk as a special contributor, appearing both in-studio and at red carpet events.

Before her winning turn in Crave’s Canada’s Drag Race, Priyanka was a host on YTV under the name Suki. Since earning her crown and sceptre, Priyanka has released the five-track EP collection Taste Test, which has been streamed more than 15 million times, said the news release.

Justin Stockman, VP, content development and programming at Bell Media, said the company will explore “cutting-edge ideas to create and deliver compelling content,” in a statement on the deal, adding that “Priyanka is a limitless entertainer that brings versatility, energy, and humour to everything she does.”
