Guru hires former WildBrain sales exec Jennifer Oppenheimer

The studio is also expanding Dave Padbury’s remit and transitioning Rachel Marcus into a consulting role.

Toronto-based Guru Studio has hired Jennifer Oppenheimer (pictured) as an international sales and licensing manager.

Oppenheimer stepped into her new role at Guru two weeks ago and reports to Corey Caplan, senior director of international sales, according to a news release.

She’ll be responsible for managing content and licensing sales for Guru’s distribution properties, including True and the Rainbow Kingdom, Big Blue, Pikwik Pack and the newly acquired preschool series 123 Number Squad launching on Sky Kids in the U.K. this year.

She’ll also be leading the company’s sales in APAC, Eastern Europe and AVOD globally.

Oppenheimer’s most recent position was sales manager at WildBrain, where she focused on APAC, Australia and digital platforms in the U.S. for three years. Prior to that, she worked as a coordinator of production and scripted development at Boat Rocker Media from 2015 to 2019.

News of the hire coincides with the departure of development VP Rachel Marcus, who will continue to work as a consultant on various projects in Guru’s pipeline.

The studio has also expanded the remit of longtime development exec Dave Padbury, who has been with the company since 2013. He will now oversee the growth of the company’s originals library, reporting directly to president and executive creative director Frank Falcone.
