Blue Ant International is expanding its relationship with BBC America with a newly announced presale for original documentary production Chasing the Rains from natural history and wildlife content brand Love Nature.
The acquisition comes after Blue Ant International’s presale in June with BBC America for Africa’s Wild Year, which is also an original from Blue Ant Media-owned, Washington, D.C.-headquartered Love Nature.
Chasing the Rains (pictured; 4 x 60 minutes; Maramedia) follows three separate animal matriarchs trying to survive a drought in unspoiled and rarely-filmed areas of wilderness in Africa, with narration from Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton).
In Africa’s Wild Year (4 x 60 minutes; Merx International), cameras capture how animals adapt to weather variations over the course of a year in 10 countries in Africa. The docuseries made its U.S. territory debut in August of 2022.
Bryan Gabourie, SVP of international sales and partnerships at Blue Ant International, said in a statement that as Love Nature continues to expand their original blue-chip programs, the Blue Ant Media distribution arm sees “more opportunities” with BBC America in the future.
In November, Blue Ant International appointed London-based Sarah Hussain as director of sales and acquisitions in the Middle East, Africa and Benelux.
