M ongrel Media has elevated Andrew Frank (pictured) to co-president as part of a raft of promotions within the Toronto-based distributor.
The former VP, sales and acquisitions will co-lead the company alongside founder and president Hussain Amarshi. Frank will now oversee all sales and acquisitions for the distributor, in addition to serving as an executive producer on their Canadian features.
Frank has worked at Mongrel for 16 years, and previously worked within its home entertainment division. He was a creative consultant for Robert Redford’s Sundance Cinemas prior to joining Mongrel, and has the lifetime bragging rights as the individual who invented and trademarked the “Frappuccino” in a previous role at Coffee Connection, according to a news release.
The company has announced several other titles in its executive ranks, with Jonathan Wyman upped to EVP; Tom Alexander to VP, theatrical sales; Danish Vahidy to VP, marketing; and Renata Czyzycka as VP, finance.
Rounding out the promotions are Marko Orlic to director, acquisitions and sales; Ai Tsuzuki to director, technical services, theatrical; Harmonie Hemming to director, technical services, ancillaries; and Michaela Tobin to financial accountant.
Mongrel Media’s recent acquisitions include Canadian films I Like Movies, So Much Tenderness and 752 Is Not A Number, as well as the buzzy international film Decision to Leave from South Korea.
