Beach House Pictures, a Blue Ant Media company, has partnered with Raghav Khanna, former head of Netflix’s documentary productions in Asia-Pacific, to form Mumbai-based prodco Riverland Entertainment.
Khanna (pictured), whose credits include Raja, Rasoi aur Anya Kahaniyaan, Masters of Taste with Gary Mehigan and Mega Icons, will serve as managing director of the new venture, creating unscripted series and documentaries for streamers and broadcasters both in India and globally. The company will have access to Beach House’s Singapore-based post-production facility, Space Lion Studios.
“Partnering with Raghav and entering India is critical to Beach House Pictures as we expand across Asia, but it’s also crucial that we work with the country’s most exciting storytellers to ensure our projects are truly authentic to the region and its communities,” said Beach House Pictures managing director Jocelyn Little.
“It is an unprecedented time to be a creator, as local stories told with authenticity are transcending regional and linguistic boundaries,” added Khanna. “We want to partner with the Indian creative community and tap into Beach House Pictures’ genre expertise to tell stories that are true to their milieu for Indian and international audiences. India’s geographical diversity, robust entertainment industry and recently announced filming tax incentives make for an attractive destination for incoming international productions.”
In addition to its production activity, Riverland Entertainment will also provide line production services to incoming international productions in order for them to take advantage of those above-mentioned incentives, as well as local talent, crews and permits.
Beach House Pictures previously acquired Tokyo-based Vesuvius Pictures and Singapore scripted prodco Momo Film as part of its expansion within the Asia region.
