The Société de développement des entreprises culturelle (SODEC) has selected 12 projects for its TV pre-development assistance program, held in collaboration with the Canada Media Fund.
The program selects Quebec literary works set for TV adaptations that have not yet received support from a broadcaster or distribution, or received development funding.
The selected titles include five live-action projects, with two titles in pre-development at Item 7: La fiancée américaine (6 x 60 minutes), based on the novel of the same name by Eric Dupont, and L’avenir (6 x 60 minutes), based on the novel by Catherine Leroux.
The other three live-action titles are Le mur mitoyen (6 x 60 minutes; Zone3), another Leroux adaptation; Tiohtià :ke (10 x 45 minutes; V10 Média), based on the novel by Michel Jean; and Chroniques du Plateau Mont-Royal (30 x 60 minutes; Amalga Créations Médias), based on the novel series by Michel Tremblay.
Also selected were seven youth animation projects, including two in pre-development with producer Ari A. Cohen: Ceci n’est pas une émission sur les dinosaures (20 x 3 minutes), based on the children’s book by Mélina Schoenborn and Une visite guidée du système solaire (15 x 3 minutes), based on the kid-targeted science book by Pierre Chastenay.
Rounding out the list are Gaya et le petit désert (6 x 5 minutes; Tobo Média), based on the musical work by Gilles Vigneault; Les oizofilos (26 x 5 minutes; Echo Media), based on the children’s book by Karine Gottot and Mathieu Lampron; Le sommeil des loutres (6 x 21 minutes; 10e Ave Productions), based on the novel by Marie-Christine Chartier; Savais-tu?
