Blue Ant acquires Mike Holmes home reno programming

The acquisition includes more than 200 hours of programming from the library of unscripted original series and specials featuring the celebrity contractor.

Blue Ant Media has announced that it has acquired more than 200 hours of programming from the library of unscripted original series and specials featuring celebrity Canadian contractor Mike Holmes.

The Holmes Group has entered into an agreement with Blue Ant for the latter company to purchase a sizable package of content featuring Holmes, a major name in home renovation and lifestyle TV. The deal includes every season of Holmes on Homes, Holmes Makes It Right and Holmes Inspection, as well as specials like Holmes for the Holidays, Holmes in New Orleans and Mike’s Ultimate Garage, among other titles.

The library will launch exclusively on Blue Ant’s FAST channel Homeful, which showcases real estate, design and decor projects. Homeful will then introduce the Holmes titles on platforms like Roku, LG and Xumo throughout the coming months.

Blue Ant International now holds the distribution rights to Holmes’ catalogue, which will debut at MIPCOM this fall.

Blue Ant Media also plans to commission new original programming featuring Holmes and his children, Michael Holmes Jr. and Sherry Holmes, for both Homeful and its Canadian TV platforms.

In a statement, Jamie Schouela, president of global channels and media at Blue Ant Media, said building the company’s library of acquired and original IP will be a priority as is continues to grow its free streaming channels.

Holmes vaulted to fame with Corus Entertainment’s HGTV Canada before moving to Bell Media in 2019 to star in original series on CTV and CTV Life specialty channel.
