M ontreal director Mariloup Wolfe (Free Fall, Arlette) is set to start shooting her new feature film, Coeur de slush, next Tuesday in Quebec.
Christal Films Productions’ Christian Larouche produces the drama, which was written by Sarah-Maude Beauchesne, based on her 2014 coming-of-age novel. It’s scheduled to shoot through Oct. 20 in the regions of Saint-Sauveur, Estrie and the Rive-South and North Shore of Montreal.
Coeur de slush had a $5.5 million budget, financed with the help of Telefilm Canada, tax credits from the Quebec and federal governments, Bell Média, Fonds Québecor, Crave and the Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles, which provided funds under the production assistance program for projects with budgets of $2.5 million or more. Les Films Opale is the Canadian distributor.
The film stars Liliane Skelly, Camille Felton, François Létourneau, Joseph Delorey, Salma Serraji, Vivi-Anne Riel and Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie. Skelly stars as the 16-year-old protagonist, who falls into a love triangle while working as a lifeguard over a summer.
Beauchesne will be on set on Sept. 10 in Saint-Sauveur and Sept. 25 at Brome Lake to meet young fans, according to a news release. In a statement, she said the film is coming to fruition “after six years of hard work, waiting, doubt, hope and emotion.”
