NOFS bringing three post-production companies to Northern Ontario

The Northern Ontario Film Studios has inked partnerships with Picture Shop, Parachute North Post Production and WMB Post Production Services North.

The Northern Ontario Film Studios (NOFS) has inked a deal to bring three post-production companies to the region.

NOFS has announced new partnerships with California-based Streamland Media picture division Picture Shop, Toronto-based post-production sound team Parachute North Post Production, and WMB Post Production Services North.

All three companies will be housed at NOFS’s facilities across the North, where the Sudbury, Ont.-headquartered studio provider has serviced over 100 film and television projects since its inception in 2012, when it became the first and only film studio in Northern Ontario.

With this new boost in post-production services in North Bay and Sudbury, film and television productions will be able to stay in the North to complete post and delivery of their projects while having flexibility of multiple facilities to use, said a news release.

For Picture Shop, the deal builds upon an existing eight-year partnership with NOFS, which is currently based out of their Sudbury studio and will now expand to a new location in NOFS’s North Bay studio. That will add to Picture Shop’s global locations in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, Toronto, London, Manchester, Bristol and Cardiff.

NOFS currently has over 70,000 square feet and 60 acres of studio space available to the film and television industry across Northern Ontario, which has become a production hub in recent years with incentives including the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

Greater Sudbury has attracted projects including Crave’s hit comedy Letterkenny and spinoff series Shoresy, while North Bay has been the backdrop for various features and series, such as Hallmark’s When Hope Calls.
