Calgary and Regina-based prodco Trilight Entertainment has hit its milestone 20th production with the romantic drama Summer at Charlotte’s.
The film is directed by Avi Federgreen (pictured left), who also serves as executive producer, and co-written by Kaisha Bicknell and Style Dayne. Trilight founder Shayne Putzlocher (pictured right) is a producer alongside Jessica Watch and Andrea Hoffman.
Summer at Charlotte’s follows a young woman who gets cold feet over her impending nuptials when she reunites with her childhood best friend and rekindles old feelings. It stars Lucy Hill (Secret Santa), Patch May (The Wedding Fix) and Jill Frappier (Northern Rescue), and is now in production in Regina.
The film is supported through the province’s Feature Film and Television Production Grant, which received a significant boost from the provincial government this year, increasing its annual contributions to $10 million from the previous $2 million. The grant covers up to 25% of eligible expenditures to a maximum of $5 million. Additional financial details for the film were not disclosed.
Federgreen’s Indiecan Entertainment holds Canadian distribution rights, while L.A.-based Princ Films holds U.S. distribution and international sales rights. Princ Films’ Igor Princ and Ralitsa Trifanova also serve as executive producers.
Summer at Charlotte’s is expected to have a theatrical release in spring 2023, with a broadcast premiere on Super Channel in the summer.
