Wattpad Webtoon Studios adds animation division

The studio has tapped three executives to lead animation, television and film divisions, working under head of global entertainment David Madden.

Wattpad Webtoon Studios has expanded its leadership structure with the launch of an animation division, as well as a raft of new hires and promotions.

The new global animation division will be led by Taylor Grant, who formerly served as head of Webtoon Studios. Grant will be responsible for IP development on the division’s animated film and TV projects, which include Lore Olympus, coproduced with The Jim Henson Company.

Grant’s career began working for Toronto animation company Nelvana, as well as Saban Entertainment, before moving on to executive roles at Miramax and Stan Lee Media.

Wattpad Webtoon Studios has also hired Sydney Bright as director of development at the animation division, whose previous credits include Fox’s Bob’s Burgers and Comedy Central’s Brickleberry.

On the live action front, Wattpad Webtoon Studios has hired Sera Tabb as head of global television, overseeing development on adaptations from both Wattpad and Webtoon’s IP catalogue. Tabb formerly served as SVP of development at L.A. prodco Picture Perfect Federation and has also held positions at Skydance Media, Sony Pictures Television and United Talent Agency.

The company has also promoted Lindsey Weems Ramey to head of global film. Formerly director of content development and production, Ramey will now lead development on the studio’s film slate. Projects Ramey has already worked on include Float, starring Andrea Bang and Robbie Amell, with Lionsgate, Collective Pictures and Brightlight Pictures.

Grant, Tabb and Ramey will all report to David Madden, who was named the company’s head of global entertainment earlier this year and is based in Los Angeles. Aron Levitz continues to serve as president of Wattpad Webtoon Studios in Toronto.

Rounding out the new hires at Wattpad Webtoon is Criswell Fiordalis as head of finance; Austin Wong as head of legal and business affairs; Jess Brinder as director of international business development; Bego Robles as director of international development and production; and Ellen Kuni as entertainment publicity lead.
