Cineflix Productions’ holiday and true crime MOWs have racked up a number of international sales following their original runs on U.S. network Lifetime.
U.K. distribution arm Cineflix Rights has announced global sales for four 90-minute titles, produced by Cineflix’s TV production arm. Among them are two holiday-themed films, Miracle in Motor City (pictured), starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict and featuring music legend Smokey Robinson, and An Ice Wine Christmas, starring Roselyn Sánchez and Lyriq Bent.
The other two are “survivor-centric crime dramas,” Stolen By Their Father, starring Sarah Drew, and Left for Dead: The Ashley Reeves Story, starring Jennie Garth.
Both Miracle in Motor City and An Ice Wine Christmas were sold to Bell Media for English-speaking Canada, Paramount+ in the U.K. and Globo in Brazil. Additional sales for An Ice Wine Christmas went to TV4 in Sweden and Sýn hf in Iceland.
Stolen By Their Father and Left for Dead: The Ashley Reeves Story were both acquired by Corus Entertainment for Canada, Bell Media for French-speaking Canada, Channel 5 in the U.K. and A&E in Latin America. Left for Dead: The Ashley Reeves Story was also picked up by Iceland’s Sýn hf.
The sales are the result of an MOW strategy that focuses on escapist feel-good fare and true crime thrillers, mixed with recognizable creatives and talent and their ongoing partnership with commissioner Lifetime, according to James Durie, head of scripted at Cineflix Rights, in a statement. “We are seeing an increase in demand for this type of content—as evidenced by these recent deals—and we look forward to releasing several more movies later this year,” he added.
