A mazon Studios has hired New Metric Media’s Beth Iley as senior scripted development executive within its Canadian scripted originals department.
Effective Monday (April 25) Iley will join the scripted development team in Toronto to source and develop scripts for Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video and strengthen its ties with the Canadian screen industry. She will work with Brent Haynes, head of scripted originals, Canada. The team is led by Christina Wayne, head of Canadian originals, Amazon Studios.
Iley most recently served as director of development at Letterkenny producer New Metric Media. She joined New Metric in 2018 and served as producer of the prodco’s CTV comedy Children Ruin Everything, which was renewed for a 16-episode second season earlier this year.
Before joining New Metric, Iley was a producer on the sci-fi series Killjoys, produced by Temple Street (now Boat Rocker Studios, TV). Before Killjoys she was a manager of scripted programming at Temple Street. Her other credits include The Next Step, Orphan Black and X Company.
Amazon Studios has continued to build its Canadian originals team since launching its local slate for Prime Video in 2021, hiring Samantha De France as production executive, unscripted Canada earlier this year.
Prime Video’s recently announced local originals include the scripted comedy The Sticky, produced by U.S. prodcos Blumhouse Television, Megamix and Comet Pictures, and Montreal’s Sphere Media, an untitled documentary about The Tragically Hip, directed and produced by Mike Downie, and a Quebec version of LOL: Last One Laughing Canada.
