Quebecor Content has acquired the adaptation rights to the hit reality survival series.

M edia company and broadcaster Quebecor Content has acquired the adaptation rights to hit reality series I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!

A news release says the Quebec adaptation of the wilderness survival show, produced by Montreal-based Productions Déferlantes in collaboration with Quebecor Content, is set to air this fall on French-language channel TVA.

Quebecor Content has acquired several popular unscripted formats from format rights holder ITV Studios, with other titles including The Voice and Love Island. Quebecor Content’s other local adaptations of blockbuster reality competition formats include The Masked Singer, produced by Productions Déferlantes with the rights obtained from MBC America, and You’re Back in the Room, acquired through a deal with BBC Worldwide North America.

I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is a game show inspired by the British ITV Studios format that has already been sold to 15 countries, including the U.S. (ABC, NBC), France (TF1) and Australia (Network Ten). The series sees well-known personalities living together and competing in challenges in an animal-filled wilderness setting that challenges their physical and mental limits. There’s no word yet on when and where the Quebec adaptation will be shot, or how many episodes have been ordered. A publicist says details about the filming, host and more “will follow in the next weeks.”

In December, Bell Media’s Noovo also announced a wildnerness-style reality competition series for the Quebec market: an adaptation of the hit format Survivor for French-speaking audiences. The French-language channel acquired the rights from Banijay Rights.
