Cameras roll on Letterkenny spinoff, Shoresy

Production on Crave's small-town hoser comedy is underway in Sudbury, Ont., in association with New Metric Media, WildBrain and Play Fun Games.

Pitter patter, let’s get at ‘er: Production has started on Crave’s upcoming Letterkenny spinoff, Shoresy, in Sudbury, Ont.

Toronto/L.A.-based New Metric Media is producing the small-town hockey comedy, in partnership with creator/star Jared Keeso’s Play Fun Games, in association with Bell Media for its Crave streaming service.

Keeso is also writer of the six-episode series, which focuses on Shoresy, his side character whose face is never seen in the international hit Letterkenny.

Letterkenny co-creator Jacob Tierney is executive producer and directs the story of Shoresy joining a northern Ontario senior triple-A hockey team, “on a quest to never, ever lose again.” He’ll also appear as a guest star.

Letterkenny executive producer Mark Montefiore, president of New Metric Media, is also executive producing Shoresy.

Letterkenny star Kaniehtiio Horn has signed on as a consulting producer on the series, expected to premiere in spring 2022 in English and French.

Cast members include Tasya Teles, Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat, Blair Lamora and Keilani Rose.

Stars of the sports world also have roles, including: hockey defenceman Jonathan-Ismael Diaby; former Montreal Canadien Terry Ryan; former Kahnawake Condor and MMA fighter Andrew “The Canon” Antsanen; retired Cree hockey player Jon “Nasty” Mirasty; former Carolina Hurricanes centre Brandon Nolan; and three-time Stanley Cup winner Jordan Nolan.

Guest stars include: Laurence Leboeuf of Transplant; Scott Thompson of The Kids in the Hall; Jonathan Torrens of Trailer Park Boys; Camille Sullivan of Trigger Me; Eliana Jones of Northern Rescue; Kim Cloutier of Letterkenny; Michala Brasseur of Grand Army; and social media star/podcaster Lysandre Nadeau.

Halifax-based WildBrain is distributor of the series, which is being made with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, Ontario Creates, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, and the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
