Hollywood Suite slates original docuseries

Relentless: The Kevin Porter Story, about one man's dream of becoming a professional hockey player in his 40s, will premiere next month.

Hollywood Suite will premiere the original docuseries Relentless: The Kevin Porter Story this September.

In the four-part series, White Rock, B.C.-born filmmaker Ryan Mains follows Ontario-based paramedic and firefighter Kevin Porter for over five years as he pursues his lifelong dream of playing professional hockey in his 40s.

Featuring interviews with former professional hockey players Jim Thomson, Frank Littlejohn and David Ling, the series promises to provide a glimpse into what it takes to make it as a pro hockey player.

Relentless: The Kevin Porter Story will air with two back-to-back episodes on Sept. 21 beginning at 9 p.m. ET, followed by the final two episodes on Sept. 28 at 9 p.m. ET. The whole series will be available on Hollywood Suite On Demand starting Sep. 1.

The series was produced and directed by Mains, who also served as director of photography and co-wrote the series with Derek Raby. It was executive produced by Hollywood Suite president and co-founder David Kines and Julie Kumaria.

Mains began work at Hollywood Suite in 2015, producing promotions and original content. Previously, he was the directing showrunner on the lifestyle/factual series Quest OutWest: Wild Food for APTN, and has received accolades for his shorts Of Golf and God and The Collinwood Campaign (both 2008).
