Canadian Screen Award-winning director Wendy Ord is set to helm a Prince George, B.C.-shot romantic comedy The Way to the Heart.
Produced by Norm Coyne of Barker Street Cinemas, filming gets underway today. Production will take place in various locations across Prince George and wrap in mid June. Sara Shaak of Anamorphic Media and Shayne Putzlocher of Trilight Entertainment serve as executive producers.
The project stars Hallmark movie veteran Meghan Heffern (Love at Sunset Terrace, Wynonna Earp), Jon Cor (Cross Country Christmas, Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) and Peter Graham-Gaudreau, in addition to Food Network host Bob Blumer (Surreal Gourmet, Glutton for Punishment). Local cast members include Sandra Clermont, Riley Banzer, and Sydney Hendricks.
The lighthearted rom-com is part of a series of projects set to shoot in northern B.C. over the next few years, with a view to expanding the region’s production capacity. Festive movie A Great North Christmas filmed in and around Prince George earlier in the year.
Director Ord’s credits include the feature-length documentary To The Worlds, which won the 2020 Canadian Screen Award for Best Documentary Program.
EPs Shaak and Putzlocher released their new film, Blood on the Crown, starring Harvey Keitel and Malcolm McDowell earlier this month. The pair are also headed to Malta this summer for production on their upcoming action feature Hounds of War.
