BGM preschool series Gabby’s Farm has been renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere on TVOKids next week.
Produced by the Sphere Media-owned prodco, the show is aimed at three-to-five-year-olds and hosted by adventurous six-year-old Gabby who is passionate about farming, her family and learning, giving audiences a close look at the animals, equipment and activities that she encounters on her family farm.
Commissioned last May and previously called Abby’s Farm, the Guelph, ON-shot TVOKids Original will debut on May 17 on the channel as well as TVOKids YouTube.
Similar to season one, season two spans 30 x 7 minutes and is accompanied by short-form series Count with Gabby! (20 x 2 minutes). The latter focuses on the character’s love of math while exploring the farm and will also return for a second season consisting of 20 episodes.
Executive producers on both series include Sphere Media CEO Bruno Dubé, BGM president Marlo Miazga, Daniel Bourré, Sean Connolly and Corinna Lehr.
“Season one is filled with Gabby’s enthusiasm and curiosity. We love watching her explore the farm and help our younger viewers understand what living on a farm is really like. I can’t wait to see what happens in season two,” said TVO director of kids TV Marney Malabar in a statement.
Notably, production is expected to roll straight into filming over the summer and fall months for season two.
Last month, TVOKids also renewed BGM’s musical children’s series Backyard Beats for a second season. The show’s first season is nominated for Best Children’s or Youth Non-Fiction Program or Series in the 2021 Canadian Screen Awards.
