BANFF ’21: Channing Dungey, Greg Berlanti, Kaley Cuoco board festival lineup

The trio are on board for an exclusive "In Conversation With" session about their thriller The Flight Attendant and other shared productions.

Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) will host an exclusive “In Conversation With” session with Channing Dungey, Greg Berlanti and Kaley Cuoco as part of its 2021 virtual event.

The trio will discuss the script-to-screen journey of the HBO Max original The Flight Attendant, which debuted in November. Fronted by Cuoco, who became a household name through her role in The Big Bang Theory, the series tells the story of a flight attendant who wakes up in the wrong hotel room with a dead man next to her.

Dungey became chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group in January, giving her oversight of more than 120 scripted and unscripted series across the production studio’s portfolio. Before joining Warner Bros. Television Group she was VP of original series at Netflix and before that president of ABC Entertainment.

“We’re honoured to provide our platform in hosting Channing in her new role with Warner Bros.,” said Randy Lennox, chair of the BANFF board of directors, in a statement. “Her conversation with renowned producer Greg Berlanti and the incredibly talented comedic genius Kaley Cuoco will take off with an in-depth look at the successful new genre-bending series The Flight Attendant, in addition to addressing some of the unique creative and business challenges of making hit content for increasingly sophisticated audiences.”

Meanwhile, Berlanti has become one of the most established TV producers of this era, with his eponymous prodco producing titles such as ArrowBatwomanThe Flash, and Superman & Lois. He’s also an executive producer on The Flight Attendant, which also counts Cuoco among its EPs.

In addition to The Flight Attendant, the trio will discuss plans for a new limited series based on the life of Doris Day. The series is set to be produced by Cuoco’s Yes, Norman Productions and Berlanti Productions. Cuoco’s production shingle is currently developing other ideas for original TV projects through its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group. Yes, Norman currently produces Warner Bros. Animation’s Harley Quinn for HBO Max, with Cuoco voicing the title character and serving as an EP.

The 2021 edition of BANFF runs from June 14 to July 16.
