William F. White International is looking to further its growth in the prairies, tapping Rob Rowan (pictured) to lead the charge as GM of its Calgary and Winnipeg offices.
“We’re eyeing our Calgary and Winnipeg markets as ideal opportunities for strategic growth within the film and television industry and our company,” said EVP and COO Garin Josey in a statement about the news.
Starting today (March 1), the past business agent for IATSE Local 856 and ICG 669 assumes the post from Michael Drabot, VP and GM for William F. White International’s Toronto and Winnipeg offices.
Notably, Drabot will continue as VP and GM with the Sunbelt Rentals company’s Toronto office.
With over 30 years of production experience, Rowan is credited with increasing the number of productions and returning producers to Manitoba during his time with IATSE Local 856, according to a press release.
He also has experience as a gaffer, best boy electric and a rigging gaffer on film and TV projects shot in the prairies such as Shall We Dance? and Capote.
“Calgary and Winnipeg have long since been strong industry contenders for an expansion in production due to each province’s favourable tax credit incentives,” said Rowan, who reports to Josey, in a statement.
“I’m excited to work with the teams across WFW and Sunbelt Rentals to leverage my experience in this industry and identify key areas of expansion in both markets.”
Rowan will be responsible for day-to-day sales and operations in the Calgary and Winnipeg markets. Additionally, he will work closely with both teams and each line of business to spearhead sales initiatives, and work towards building William F. White International’s cross-country client base.
