The Toronto-based virtual prodco has appointed Dana Ware (pictured) to the newly created role of creative director.

Previously a creative designer at immersive virtual reality company The Void, Ware’s expertise is in mixing physical-reality with virtual-reality to create hyper-reality.

A spokesperson for Dark Slope Studios told Playback that Ware’s new position will see her work across some upcoming projects for the company. Additionally, based in Salt Lake City, UT she will work as a narrative designer and consult across various ongoing studio projects.

Further, Dark Slope has added former Guru Studio production coordinator Alexandra Roberts to its team as production manager.

Based in Toronto, she will work with the studio’s creative team to establish and facilitate the smooth execution of all artistic and technical elements for an upcoming project, according to a spokesperson for the organization. Previously, during her time with Guru, the Canadian Film Centre graduate worked on Canadian Screen Award-nominated animated series Abby Hatcher (Nick Jr./Netflix) – a project produced in collaboration with Spin Master and Nick Jr.

Finally, Justin Catchcart and Gustavo Vitarelli round out Dark Slope’s new faces.

Serving as motion tracking stage director & technical lead, Catchcart is based in Toronto, while Vitarelli works as Dark Slope’s senior technical artist. Of note, Vitarelli is based in Brazil.

A spokesperson for Dark Slope told Playback that all roles were newly created and that all team members started in December 2020, with their positions and projects formalized this year.
